Dear Church Family & Friends,
Once again, I'm happy to report that Donna is continuing to make strides with her recovery! The Lord is VERY good!
Donna is now in her 5th week of radiation with only one more week to go! Then, after next week, we need to wait about a month or so, and then its time for her November 21st MRI. From what the docs are telling us, this should be clear. Why? Because the radiation should be destroying any cancer cells in that area of her brain, and she is not having any symptoms or seizures. The only negative side effect that she is having at this point, besides the hair loss, is the fatigue. The Lord is VERY good!
Today was an especially good day. She was released from her physical therapy! Donna has exercises that she needs to do at home, but she no longer needs to go for outpatient rehab.
I also have been in touch with the folks at Emory this week. Part of the protocol with working with their oncologists is that their neuro-pathologists [pathologists that specialize in brain cancers] on staff look at the actual slides of Donna's tumor from the time of her operation. They will then base their opinion and re-grade Donna's tumor. We are really not expecting a different opinion, but you never know. We should be hearing from them early next week regarding when we our appointment will be and when we can start the Temodar, which is a chemotherapy drug.
As a side note, many folks have asked, "How's it going with the insurance?" I'm glad to report - great! I am working with a woman named Andrea who is wonderful! She has told me several times not to worry about the insurance; my job is to care for Donna. With all of the heartaches and anxiety that this situation has caused our family, the health insurance has not been part of it! The Lord is VERY good!
As always, our prayers remain as follows: 1.) That the Lord's will be done through this situation, 2.) That a tumor NEVER EVER appears within Donna's body again, 3.) That any side effects from treatments remain at a minimum, 4.) and that the November 21st MRI is clear.
Also, please remember Andrea in your prayers as she really has been a blessing to us! And again, we can never express our gratitude to everyone for what you all have done for us at this time in our life. Thank-you all!
