Dear Church Family & Friends;
Donna still continues to do better & better each day. While her fatigue is worse some days than others, it still is manageable for her if she gets a couple of naps in during the day. She has only 2 weeks of radiation left!
We did have some good news! We will be going to Emory to receive the chemo treatments for Donna. We will be using that new drug that I spoke of last time named Temodar, which has had some good results. While this is good news, we know that we still need to rely fully on the Lord to place His healing hand upon Donna's body to heal her.
While she was examined last Friday at Emory by Dr. Lawson, he too was surprised at how well she was doing with her movements and her mental abilities. He was able to tell that she is not only in a good frame of mind, but she is motivated to beat this cancer because she knows that the Lord can do it for her! Oncologist love seeing this in people! (To explain this more, many who have had Grade IV tumors like Donna generally are in wheelchairs or suffer other mental problems. Donna really is a miracle!)
If all goes according to plan, she will probably begin the therapy in December. The folks at Emory, as part of their protocol, will be receiving the actual slides of Donna's cancer that were obtained at the time of her operation. They will then classify the tumor type & grade for themselves. Who knows, maybe it will be classified differently this time! Why not, the Lord fed 5000 with a sack lunch!
We would like to ask that you remember this doctor Dr. Lawson in your prayer time as he will be working closely with us over the next few months. While he is not a neuro-oncologist, he is a regular oncologist who worked with Dr. Gilbert the neuro-oncologist that left Emory about a month ago for many years. Dr. Gilbert went to work at MD Anderson in Houston, a world class cancer research center. Dr. Lawson will be conferring with Dr. Gilbert about Donna's status as need arises. (I also checked with Dr. Lawson and this is the way he spells neuro-oncologist also!)
Physically, Donna was released from her 'Speech Therapist' today. While they were saying their good-byes, she told Donna that over the years she has worked with many folks with what Donna has, she has never seen anyone rebound as quickly and as fast as Donna has. It's great seeing your prayers working right before our eyes!
As always, thank-you all very much for your prayers! Words cannot express our gratitude - especially when we see the results in such a dramatic fashion!
Our prayer requests remain: 1.) For the Lord's will to be done through this situation; 2.) For this tumor NEVER to reappear within Donna's body; 3.) For Donna to have minimal if any side effects from her treatments; 4.) For Donna's November 21st MRI to be clear.
Thank-you for everything!
In His Name, Service & Love,
Frank & Donna
