Dear Church Family & Friends,
Yes, it has been awhile since the last Donna Update, and rest assure, she is continuing to do great!
We do have some 'new' news to report. After 17 rounds of chemo over the past 2 years, and much prayer, Donna has decided to stop taking the chemo at this point. There are several reasons for this decision.
First, after praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit, we both felt led to believe that she has had enough of the medication. Also, there are many ramifications to taking chemo on a prophylactic basis including but not limited to liver damage, kidney damage, bone marrow damage, leukemia, etc. While most doctors do not consider the long-term effects of these drugs given the diagnosis of Glioblastoma, there are risks associated with chemotherapy. Though Donna will be stopping the chemo at this, we will continue to have MRIs completed every 3 months. If there is re-growth of the tumor in the future, Donna has no problems going back on the Temodar at that point.
The Lord is also opening up doors for us to help other Brain Tumor victims. We have heard from a few dozen folks over the last couple of months or so from Donna's web site. We are humbled that the Lord is using us to help encourage others with this awful disease. We are even more humbled that we are in a position to readily share how folks can know without a doubt that they can have salvation through Jesus Christ. (See http://www.coed4.org/Salvation.htm) If you would like Donna to speak to your group or church, please let us know; she'd love to share what the Lord has done in her life!
Our prayer requests remains: 1.) For the Lord's will, not our will, to be done; 2.) For this tumor NEVER EVER to reappear; 3.) For the next MRI to be clear; 4.) For Donna & I to continue to glorify our Father in heaven!
I would also like to pass along one other request. Recently, we met Jan Entrekin on the phone. Her husband Rod is a Pastor at Ivy Creek Community Church in Lawrenceville, GA. She too was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma and her tumor is similar to Donna's in several respects. We feel a bond with this family, and we would like you to join their church, and us in praying for a healing for Jan.
Donna's next MRI should be in a month or so. As always, I will pass those results on once we get them.
We pray that each and every one of you have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving. And we thank-you for your prayers and support!
In His Name,
Frank
