Dear Church Family & Friends,
Time for a Donna Update! To state Donna’s health in one word Miraculous!
Donna was recently given a 2-week break with chemo treatment regime due to some excessive fatigue. She completed her 6th round of chemo on April 20 and had only slight fatigue from this treatment! Since this change was so beneficial, and because she is doing so well, her oncologist has opted to change her from having chemo every 4 weeks to every 6 weeks. And this is just fine with Donna!
She continues to work three days a week at Shadowbrook, along with conducting her Ladies’ Bible Study on Friday morning and she is beginning to get back into her Juice Plus business. Basically, life is getting back to normal around here.
Also, Donna has been feeling well enough to travel! We recently went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a long weekend. And, this weekend, we are planning to go to Tampa to visit Donna’s grandparents, Tony & Sadie, who reside in an assisted living facility there. This is really a dream come true for Donna to see her grandparents again!
Couple of other noteworthy happenings to share. We went back to Joan Glancy Rehab again this past Thursday. We were told of a 41 year old named Michael who has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 Astrocytoma. (Donna had a Grade IV Astrocytoma, aka Glioblastome Multiforme.) We went there to give him encouragement and hope as they will not be able to operate on him due to the location of his tumor. We also verified that he and his family are Christians. Please pray for him as he has now gone back to Gwinnett Medical due to a change in his condition. (We have not heard what the problem if any is.) We also met a group of the nurses and staff that helped Donna with her rehab 7 months ago! Needless to say, they were shocked to see how well she is doing.
Also, Donna’s web site documenting her story is generating some interest. (www.coed4.org) There have been several folks who have come across her site and have written several questions related to brain tumors, treatment, symptoms, side effects, etc. It seems we have stumbled on a new ministry to serve the Lord with!
Donna’s next MRI was scheduled for the end of May. However, I will be starting a new job next week and that will entail getting a new health insurance provider. Therefore, we will need to get the MRI pre-certified with the new carrier. Then there are the prescriptions, the doctor’s etc…. I just want to thank Andrea Cumberbatch again at Cigna who did a phenomenal job of adjusting a claim that was anything but simple. I still remember some of her first words to me, “Frank, I’ll take care of the claims stuff, you take care of your wife.” Thanx Andrea!
As always, our prayer remains that 1.) The Lords’ will be done in this situation, 2.) for this tumor NEVER EVER re-appear in Donna’s body, 3.) for Donna’s next MRI to be clear, 4.) and that any side effects be minimal.
As always, thank-you for your prayers! Donna would not have done as well without them!
In His Name, Service and Love,
Frank
