Wow! What a difference a day makes!
Donna is making AMAZING progress! While she is not really all that alert because of the anesthesia wearing off, she is talking and knows that she is now classified as a living miracle!
I brought the kids and my sister to see her this afternoon around 4:00 in the afternoon. While we were there, the nurse told us that this was great timing because we could be with Donna while they moved her to a regular room! She is now out of Intensive Care and in a regular room!
I'll be spending the night with her to be sure that she is comfortable. While she isn't really awake to carry on regular conversation yet, I did tell her of the many prayers & prayer lists that she is on, the many Emails, food trays, meals, and other out pourings of love that everyone has shown our family over these past trying days.
Over the next few days, we will begin to construct her rehab program. Based on what her neurosurgeon Dr Prince told me this morning, he feels that Donna will be in the hospital till this Friday. Then, he would like to get her placed at Joan Glancy in Duluth as an inpatient for a rehab program. Depending on how she does, she could be there for perhaps 1-2 weeks, The time-table will be dependent on how fast her progress is.
Also, the doctor has told us that when there is surgery on the brain like Donna has had, the best way to help her recover is to have almost no mental stimulation. Therefore, we went ahead and unplugged the telephone in her room. Also, if you want to see her, we'd ask if you could wait till Thursday or Friday and be only about 5-10 minutes. (I hate saying this but it will really help her.)
Thanx again for all of your prayers! Our specific prayer requests are now 1.) The Lord's will to continue to be done in this situation, 2.) that Donna regains mobility & coordination in her right arm & leg as soon as possible, 3.) for our lives to get back to 'normal'. However, after experiencing a miracle like this, I doubt our lives will ever be they way they were before this happened!
